I always liked the theme song to the Jeffersons. It’s very catchy! George and Weezy finally moved on up. Are you moving on up in your career?

I know with the current economy, it’s hard to think about moving on up when you’re just trying to stay period. But humor me.

How do you move on up in your career, really?  Do you plan ahead 5, 10, 15 years? For those of you who have successfully moved up, how important is having mentors? Research shows that mentoring is imperative to careers (really life in general).

How do you market yourself? What’s your brand? How important is networking in your career climb?

I must say, I am quite impressed by our First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama. I see many qualities in her that I feel make her a great role model for young girls and even old women like me! I like Dr. Jill Biden too.

 

My Soon-to-be Ex Doctor Sucks!

Yes, I’m about to rant. I was scheduled for major surgery on today and was called on Friday afternoon to say my surgery was postponed because my doctor had a personal health emergency.

That’s understandable. But here’s what pissed me off. She has no backup.

A New Day

On this past Tuesday, January 20, 2009, the world saw President Barack Obama inaugurated as 44^th President of the United States of America. What an exciting time for this nation and the world!
